美登木是卫矛科常绿灌木,产自云南。它的果实、根茎含美登新类抗癌成分,是有效的抗癌药用植物。
植物资源分布:
美登木是一種常綠灌木或小喬木,為衛矛科美登木屬植物。全球共有美登木屬植物225種,分佈於亞洲、非洲和美洲熱帶。我國雲南省有7種之多。在西雙版納、臨滄、德宏等地州境內,海拔400—1300米的熱帶河谷兩側,山地常綠林下,石山叢林中,河流小溪沿崖均有多處發現。

美登木的根、茎、叶内含有美登新、卫矛醇、琥珀酸、丁香酸和羧基曲酸等化学成分。经过药理实验和临床验证,以上成分对多种动物和人体的肿瘤,如慢性粒细胞白血病等都有明显的抑制作用。
美登素(美坦生)Maytansine(NSC)-153858.本品系从卫矛科植物卵叶美登木(Maytanus ovatus Loes)或称齿叶美登木(Maytanus serrata)的根茎和果实中分离出的一种生物碱。[性状]溶点171-172度。[作用与用途]美登素结构与利福霉素,曲张链丝菌素(Streptovaricine),颗粒霉素(Tolypomycine)及格尔徳霉素(Geldanamycin)等相似,具有柄型(Ansa)大环结构。本品作用与长春碱类似,抑制有丝分裂中期,对DNA的合成抑制强于对RNA或蛋白质的合成抑制。实验表明,对实验动物肿瘤P388,S-180,Lewis肺癌,L1210及W256都有显著的抑制作用。本品抗癌作用极强,极底浓度就能显示疗效,安全系数很高。1,2期临床试验,对肺腺癌,肺鳞癌,肺肥大细胞癌稍有效,而对肺小细胞癌无效。(source)
